Overview

How fast (or slow) does gameplay progress?

Pace

  • Turn-based: play pauses until a player finishes their turn
  • Real-time: all actions take place at the same time
  • Real-time with pause: real-time play, but the player can pause at any time
  • Asynchronous play: Simultaneous play, where one player has a specific role (usually antagonistic) that impacts the rest of the players
